The Wassily Chair also known as the Model B3 chair was designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925 while he was the head of the cabinet making workshop at the Bauhaus in Dessau Germany. Despite popular belief the chair was not designed for the non objective painter Wassily Kandinsky who was concurrently on the Bauhaus faculty. However Kandinsky had admired the completed design and Breuer fabricated a duplicate for Kandinsky's personal quarters. The chair became known as Wassily decades later when it was re-released by an Italian manufacturer who had learned of the anecdotal Kandinsky connection in the course of its research on the chair's origins.This chair was revolutionary in the use of the materials bent tubular steel and canvas and methods of manufacturing. It is said that the handlebar of Breuer's 'Adler' bicycle inspired him to use steel tubing to build the chair and it proved to be an appropriate material because it was available in quantity. The design and all subsequent steel tubing furniture was technologically feasible only because the German steel manufacturer Mannesmann had recently perfected a process for making seamless steel tubing. Previously steel tubing had a welded seam which would collapse when the tubing was bent.

All that glitters is not gold
I planned to order two chairs however there were no reviews available at the time on the supplier. So I decided to order one first so that I could check whether or not they sold the product they advertised. I waited for the chair to arrive and noticed it was not worth the trouble. They had shipped one with cushions which were made of a cheap leather imitation contrary to what they had announced in their ad as seen below:
"Our chairs are made with strict attention to detail to preserve its original characteristics. Each chair features high grade leather from Italy which is hand selected piped tufted and individually sewn by expert leather craftsmen."
In addition to the above mentioned they actually reduce the cost of the chairs by skimping on leather material.
A more serious issue is the fact that this supplier advertises its products on Amazon and declares that they are in stock. The truth of the matter is that the supplier receives our purchase orders through Amazon and then orders these chairs from the manufacturer in China. In turn the manufacturer in China ship the chairs straight to our address without even going through the Amazon vendor facilities which in this case solely acts as a middleman.
To make things worse the mail receipt that accompanied the chair package declares that the chair was a gift and states its cost as one for $80.00. I am not sure if this procedure complies with importation regulations.
I would recommend you not to bother with unreliable firms or companies. I also recommend that Amazon should
always perform a thorough screen on companies that advertise on your website. Mainly those that deal with imported items and/or products.

Beware of cheap imitationsBeware of cheap imitations i.e. make sure you have sat in any model of this type of chair before purchasing. I made a mistake and purchased one online (not at Amazon). It turned out to be a cheaply made reproduction. This is what was wrong with mine.
The straps supporting the padding are not very strong. Therefore the seating sinks a lot and does not give firm support. Overtime this will give in even more as the steel clips loose strength.
The steel frame does not balance evenly on the base. So the frame has to lie crooked for all 4 corners to touch the base.
One of the bars is too long so I had to bring it to a machine shop and cut 2/8ths of an inch off it.
It's going to Goodwill. I figure the tax deduction is more than the cost of paying shipping both ways.

Fantastic!My husband said he needed a toaster oven for his work so I told him to take ours and I'd buy a new one. (yay!) I went shopping all around town looking at different models... wasn't too impressed with what I saw. The few I DID like I came home to read horror reviews about on amazon. I finally found this one and I believe all the possitive reviews are right. This warms up quickly and toasts perfectly. It looks very nice and seems to be excellent quality. Its very easy to use and I LOVE the touch buttons and digital display. Within minutes of plugging it in I successfully toasted half a frozen bagel as an experiment/snack and it was toasted perfection!! The options are very handy and work great. For the Bagel I just pressed toast-defrost-bagel and selected the darkness setting. I realize now that my old toaster oven was drying food out and heated unevenly. I have also cooked a pizza in it and it was done quickly and evenly also. The only complaint is what was mentioned about having to be careful not to touch it when it's hot. The handle doesn't seem to get hot but just behind it on the metal it does. It is possible you could be burned that way I did jerk my hand back once on casually opening the door(and I have small hands). That doesn't deter me from loving this toaster oven but I will be careful when it gets very hot. My husband wants to take this one to his work... I said no way! :) With Amazons good price and free shipping its well worth it!
